clear.gif (46 bytes) everesth2b.jpg (14204 bytes) clear.gif (46 bytes) A beetle from the Beetle Extreme club made it to the top of Mount Everest.  The clubs's mission is to put a beetle into extreme or impossible conditions.  Using care, the members eased up the steep sides of the mountain with the beetle.  With only ropes and sheer will, they made the slow but sure trek to the top.  Once to the top, the members couldn't figure out how to get the beetle down.

Planning a trip to the Mountians? Altitude adjustment advice.
clear.gif (46 bytes)Higher altitudes affect most people to some degree. It's normal to get out of breath easily - especially infants and the elderly. At a 9,000-foot elevation, oxygen levels are about half of what they are at sea level. Many people experience mountain sickness from low oxygen, symptoms such as nausea, headaches, dizziness, gasping for breath, or fatigue. Try these tips from the Rocky Mountain Travel Guide.
  • The first few days, limit exposure to higher elevations.
  • If bothered by any of the symptoms listed, sit down and breathe deeply for a few moments, then go to a lower altitude as quickly as possible.
  • Sleep at a lower altitude.
  • Avoid alcohol.
  • Avoid smoking.
  • Limit strenuous activity.
  • Limit salt intake.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Eat more high carbohydrate foods.
